Description
The Abey Air Admittance Valve 100mm (VP100) is a WaterMark certified, high-performance negative pressure relief valve designed for use on 100mm soil and waste stacks where conventional open-air venting through the roof is impractical, restricted, or not permitted under the installation conditions. Manufactured in Scotland to exacting quality standards, the VP100 provides a reliable, compliant and space-efficient alternative to traditional vent pipe penetrations, eliminating the need for additional roof flashings, external pipework and associated weatherproofing.
Key Features
- 100mm nominal diameter — suits standard 100mm soil and waste stack installations
- Air flow capacity of 47.2 L/s — sufficient for high-demand stack venting applications
- WaterMark certified — compliant with Australian plumbing standards for use in licensed installations
- Manufactured in Scotland — precision engineered to stringent quality and performance standards
- Automatic self-sealing operation — opens under negative pressure, closes airtight at neutral and positive pressure
- No external power or maintenance required — passive operation for the life of the installation
- Eliminates roof penetration venting — reduces installation complexity, flashings and weatherproofing requirements
- Suitable for new construction and retrofit — adaptable to a wide range of installation scenarios
Technical Specifications
- Product Code: VP100
- Brand: Abey (McAlpine)
- Size: 100mm
- Air Flow Capacity: 47.2 L/s
- Certification: WaterMark
- Country of Manufacture: Scotland
- Application: Soil and waste stack air admittance venting
Suitable Applications
The VP100 is the specified solution for 100mm soil stack venting in residential and light commercial buildings where roof penetration is not feasible due to architectural constraints, roof membrane integrity requirements, or building envelope specifications. It is equally suited to internal stack installations in multi-storey residential construction, apartment buildings, and renovation projects where extending existing vent pipework to the roof is not viable.
Common installation scenarios include soil stacks in internal bathrooms without roof access, extensions and additions where re-routing vent pipework is cost-prohibitive, and replacement of failed or undersized conventional vent terminations.
Installation Note
The Abey VP100 must be installed by a licensed plumber in accordance with AS/NZS 3500.2 and the relevant WaterMark certification conditions. The valve must be installed in an accessible location above the highest connected fixture water level, in a position that allows adequate air ingress and is protected from submersion. Local water authority requirements regarding the use of air admittance valves in lieu of open venting should be confirmed prior to specification.
